It's THAT good.
The wind has been fantastic as well. My first night I got out on my 9m for a 45 minute solo-session while the sun set. Yesterday brought stronger winds where I was able to ride my 7m fully-powered for most of the day. Brianna got out as well that day body-dragging but unfortunately that is all she can really do with the shore break. In the next day or so we will be heading to Cauipe Lagoon to work on her water starts. I'm going to bet that in under two weeks she will be ripping up-wind no problem. That's something I really need to work for so we can start participating in some of the 'epic' down-winders I keep hearing about.
Today I was fully lit on my 7m. My guess is 24-28 knots average. It's fun playing in the shore-break and the bigger swells farther out. One thing I noticed, however, is that the number of tricks I can successfully land goes way down in the harsh chop. I've definitely been spoiled with the flat water at Squamish. No more jumping wherever I want or landing as hard or fast as I want. One thing I do like about the swell is that it's good to use as kickers for that little bit (or lots) of extra height while jumping. I am really looking forward to getting into some flat water, though.
Anyways, I'm exhausted and bed-time calls. I'll see you soon with more pictures and an update after we visit Cauipe.
Tchau,
Dan and Brianna
