Where to stay in PEI

Where to stay in PEI

I'm about to make my annual trek to Cape Breton and decided this year we would spend a few days in PEI. We are looking for a hotel, as it's only a few days and cottages are weekly. Budget isn't the main issue but it would be nice to stay somewhere where you don't have to pack a car and drive to go kiting. I presume the prevailing winds are S/SW as they are in CB and am wondering where would be the best place to go. Where are the main spots I would be likely to find other kiters. We will be there the 11th through the 14th.

Motels

S/SW places:

This one http://www.parkviewmotelpei.com/ is 200m from Linkletter beach Provincial Park. Good place for kiting. Campground there as well. You can launch on the grass there.

This one https://www.malpeque.ca/en/index.html is close to an epic kiteboarding spot off Princetown Pt. in Malpeque. You would have to drive about 2 minutes to get there from this place. I think you can rent the cottages by the day here.

This one http://www.brackleybeachnorthwinds.com/ is close to a popular spot that we kite in Rustico bay just inside the national park. Brackley beach is also there - popular beach. Again you'd have to drive a few minutes to get to the kite spot from the motel.

The Cavendish Beach Music Festival is on when you are here http://www.cavendishbeachmusic.com/
so spots will be filling up.

Winds have been pretty crappy lately, hopefully you can bring some with you.

Cheers,
Steve Crozier

We're booked at the Inn at

We're booked at the Inn at the Pier from Monday to Thursday. Here's hoping for some good winds and looking forward to meeting some local riders. I've had some pretty lonely sessions in CB the last few summers!

Hey Alpower, Were you able

Hey Alpower,
Were you able to get any kiting in at PEI? How were the winds? What spots did you try and which ones were the nicest?

Wind in Cape Breton last week were mixed. Heard someone was kiting off the boat club in N.Sydney.

Never got a chance to say

Never got a chance to say thanks for the great hospitality of everyone I met on the island. I rode 3 of 4 days (and 6 out of 7 I was on the east coast), albeit not for long sessions and got to use all 3 of the kites I brought. People from the island probably don't realize what an epic spot you have, certainly some of the best spots in Canada. We loved it so much we're booked to come back for 5 days during the Sept long weekend when I expect the winds will be that much better. Looking for to seeing everyone again.
